Microsoft owned streaming platform Mixer is coming to an end after launch just four years ago. Announced Monday via a company blog post, the platform was unable to expand as quickly as wanted and the community will be transitioned to Facebook Gaming.

Ultimately, the success of Partners and streamers on Mixer is dependent on our ability to scale the platform for them as quickly and broadly as possible. It became clear that the time needed to grow our own livestreaming community to scale was out of measure with the vision and experiences that Microsoft and Xbox want to deliver for gamers now, so we've decided to close the operations side of Mixer and help the community transition to a new platform. To better serve our community's needs, we're teaming up with Facebook to enable the Mixer community to transition to Facebook Gaming.

The Next Step for Mixer - Mixer (Archive)

Powering down July 22, 2020, Mixer will be notifying users to switch over to Facebook Gaming to continue watching their streamers as well as redirecting viewers to the Facebook Gaming homepage. Xbox One users will still be able to stream from their console to other platforms.

Active Mixer Pro subscribers will receive a Xbox Gift Card credit of $15USD that's automatically applied to your associated Microsoft account. However, Microsoft has set an expiration date for the credit requiring users to spend their credit before September 30, 2020.

We encourage all Mixer viewers to spend their remaining Embers and Sparks to help support your favorite Mixer Partners and streamers. Mixer Partners will receive double-payment for all of their earnings in the month of June ā€“ so your support of Embers, Sparks and channel subscriptions for Mixer Partners will go even further during the rest of this month.

Mixer Partners will have their partner status transferred over and those currently monetized will be eligible for Facebook's Level Up Program. The program gives eligible streamers access to fan subscriptions, customized support and premium transcoding up to 1080p 60fps.
