Whether you're looking for a new indie game or wanting to support an upcoming developer, here's some cool indie games we found coming out in January. Please note that Fotisi and the author were not contacted nor payed to showcase these selected games.

Battery Jam

If you're looking for a light game with some friendly competition, then check out Battery Jam. This local multiplayer indie game lets you and up to three others battle each other for complete domination over the map. Use your rocket punch to lunch boomboxes towards your opponents, knock them out and claim their tiles. Playing one of two available modes, free-for-all or team based, across four stages on two levels within a constant changing dynamic arena.

Battery Jam is currently under development by Halseo, a small team of three graduates from the Savannah College of Art and Design. What originally started out as a student project for them became a full time job with the help of SCAD+, a university entrepreneurial program focused on helping Savannah College of Art and Design alumni start their own business.

Early access becomes available on Steam sometime in January, an actual release date hasn't been announced yet. However, Halseo plans to publish the completed game in March 2018. Adding and additional set of levels and music. Battery Jam Website

Mind The Vikings

Sandbox, survival and vikings more of your thing? Perhaps you should check out Mind The Vikings. A game described as, "Banished merged with The Sims, with vikings." This simulation game pushes the player to focus more on individual vikings, their positive and negative traits, instead of focusing on building the world's largest metropolitan. Build, maintain and thrive in uniquely generated worlds. Harvesting resources such as meat berries, rocks and wood to continue expanding your growing viking village.

Developed by the small Swedish studio Idyl, the game is currently in "a very very early alpha version" and is still taking feedback from the public. There is a free alpha version available to help with finding bugs, providing feedback and demoing the game. Early access on Steam will become available January 5th, with a completed version of the game planned for release around the end of 2018. Mind The Vikings Website

VR Furballs - Demolition

If you're just trying out VR or looking for a cute and cuddly VR game, check out VR Furballs - Demolition. In this construction smashing game, your task is to slingshot "cute Furballs" and their friends into the "evil Baddies" and destroy their bases in the process. The game also features 6 additional mini-games, a whack-a-mole styled mini-game is featured in the trailer, a Level Editor, 6 weapons and accessories to collect and the ability to take in-game selfies.

Early access, available on Steam January 2, will grant you 24 unique levels and 9 playable Furballs with their special abilities. 30 additional levels, community based, are planned to be release with the completed version of the game for a total of 54 levels. VR Furballs - Demolition is currently under development by Gamily Studios and will work on the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality. VR Furballs - Demolition Website
