During Microsoft's Xbox E3 Briefing exciting news came out for Minecraft game-goers, cross-platform play, community servers and Ultra 4k Graphics. Let's get started with cross-platform play. Until now, Minecraft was split into multiple editions and you could only play with fellow players that had the same edition as you. Example, if you were on Pocket Edition then you were limited to only Pocket Edition players and servers. However, anyone playing Minecraft on Windows 10, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or VR devices will now be able to play on the same servers!

Named the Better Together Update, players will also be able to access a server browser on listed devices that will connect you to the top servers in the game. Currently in the list are Lifeboat, Mineplex, InPVP, and CubeCraft. All of this coming out this summer!

In the fall, we have 4K HDR graphics to look forward to. Now Mojang has stated that this is entirely optional. So don't panic if your computer isn't beefy enough, you can still play Minecraft. Everyone getting the Better Together Update will get improved lighting, shadows and water effects. The Super Duper Graphics Pack will also be release, which introduces new features like dynamic shadows, lighting that streams through fog, movement in leaves and grass, new textures for mobs and villagers, directional lighting, edge highlighting and much more.

The best part for players is that everything mentioned in this article is free of charge to players that already own Minecraft. If you own Minecraft on Windows 10, iOS, Android, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch or VR devices, then you'll get a new version of the game this summer.
